Another excellent finding tool for lists is CataList: the Official Catalogue of Publicly Accessible Lists,listserv software; available from L-SOFT, http://www.lsoft.com/. There are many new web-based list managers that allow you to browse and join exisiting lists or to set up your own list online. Many WWW sites now provide links to list archives and newsgroups so that it is possible to read list postings without actually subscribing. Also, the web has made it much easier to search list archives when available. This site also contains a huge searchable archive of mail lists and newsgroups.
